The Curious Case of Mr. Adrian Monk

Although I haven't sought out an official diagnosis from a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist, I believe it's likely that I suffer from a mental condition known as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). From a very young age I've experienced obsessions/compulsions related to handwashing/germs, symmetry/patterns, counting/repetition, intrusive rituals, etc. In a twist of irony, the television series Monk, starring Tony Shalhoub, is actually one of my favorites (even though I haven't yet finished watching it).
