Potential Trip to Tropical Island (Email I Sent to an Acquaintance in 2018)

Are you interested in an all-expenses paid month long trip in September to a private island with a resort in the Caribbean and being casted in a reality television show that will air on a major tv network?

Hi, [REDACTED]. My name is Stephen Martinez and I am emailing you regarding your interest in the possibility of an all-expenses paid trip to a tropical island for the month of September.

Now, you probably have a lot of questions. So I will do my best to be straightforward and thorough to answer all of them in this email.

First, this is not a scam. This is very real. I have attached a picture to this email that contains a screenshot of the description of the opportunity on my computer.

Secondly, I have been following you on social media for a while and I have selected you for this opportunity because of your extraordinary good looks, success, and outgoing personality. These are essential traits professionals in the film industry want in their actors/actresses.

Thirdly, as with all opportunities that seem “too good to be true,” there is a catch; I’m not going to lie to you. In a nutshell, you and I would have to pose as a couple to be considered to make the trip and air on the show.

Now, this is probably a lot to take in at once. So let me tell you a little bit about who I am and how I got here.

I ran cross country and track and field in high school and in college at the University of Georgia, before leaving last December to pursue my dreams. Since then I’ve worked a few different jobs before finally being accepted as a talent at nationwide modeling/acting management agency called Nine9. As one of their talents, I have access to a private database and can apply to auditions/castings that interest me. This particular one was suggested to me by my talent agent. However, as you’ve probably figured out by now, the problem is I am single and they are looking for people like me that are in a committed relationship.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I realize this is a big commitment: dropping everything for the month of September to fly to a remote island play a part in a reality television show. However, I assure you this is only an application/submission. I just need your permission to submit myself for the casting. In other words, if you tell me you are interested in this opportunity, I will email them my portfolio and some basic information about you (basically just your Instagram page, if you approve of it). Then, I will wait to hear back from them. It is unlikely we will be accepted, because I am so young and do not have much relevant experience. But I figure why not give it a try? Because it could open up opportunities in acting/modeling, if we are fortunate enough to be accepted. Plus, the people going on the trip will be paid good money for their time/services.

Also, if you want me to contact you about opportunities to potentially be on reality television shows in the future, let me know. I am joining another management company soon and I have been in contact with another modeling agency. So I am sure opportunities like this will present themselves next year and in the years thereafter. Since people LOVE reality tv and dating shows, there will always be a market for it.

Remember, I reached out to you specifically because you fit the mold that casting directors are looking for: young (possibly too young), successful, and extremely attractive. However, do not feel obligated to say yes. It is ultimately YOUR choice! Also, if by some miracle we are accepted, you can always revoke your participation at any time (in case you change your mind).
