Idolatry (False Deities)

The sheer quantity of humans living in developed regions of the world who essentially worship celebrities, athletes, actors/actresses, models, politicians, entrepreneurs, influencers, etc. as their idols concerns me. Too many people spend too much of their time investing in (figuratively and financially) and living vicariously through others, instead of forming their own identities and pursuing their own ambitions.

Please don't misconstrue my message though; I believe it's okay, and even beneficial, to have role models. Some of my own have actually motivated me to seek success and happiness in various aspects of my life, partially shaping who I am today. However, there is a distinct difference between inspiration/guidance and obsession/mimicry. And it's crucial that we distinguish the difference.
