From Ear to Ear
Provided that you permit me to be present at such a sacred celebration, I will gladly attend your wedding ceremony. However, in all honesty, the event would be bittersweet for me. My feelings of joy would be accompanied by an abundance of sorrow. Despite my usual demeanor of steadfast stoicism, I may even finally shed a tear. But if I succumbed to my overwhelming emotions, I would do so privately. You wouldn't be able to detect the pain in my heart, as you look your betrothed in the eyes and say the proverbial words "I do." And when I make my formal approach to exchange pleasantries and congratulate you on your marriage, I would be smiling from ear to ear. You would never know the whole truth; I wouldn't allow it.
