Salvage

Humans are naturally inclined to be social creatures. Unfortunately this inclination, without any self-imposed regulations, becomes an inevitable liability for some. They become tempted to invent lies and spread rumors, unbeknownst to the negatively affected individual or group of individuals. This pattern of behavior acts as a breeding ground for an environment primarily comprised of harmful activities like gossip, bullying, and even brainwashing.

Although I've made a determined effort to prevent and combat the development of this disease, sometimes I feel powerless to effect any real change. Perspective is key and first impressions, even if they aren't derived directly from the source, are often fixed. If a situation has prematurely been blown out of proportion and one has already made up their mind, getting them to listen to reason and reconsider their opinion becomes extremely difficult. At that point, reputations (and relationships) are very tough to salvage.
