Nip It in the Bud

I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. I was just trying to nip a minor situation in the bud (before it became a major one). Because, without doing so, I've witnessed trivial matters like this spiral out of control. I wanted you to understand my perspective. That way we could come to a mutual agreement and progress without any complications. I didn't want to be the source of any tension or drama. I actually tried to avoid that. I wasn't angry with you, and I didn't expect you to react this way. I was striving to make things better, not worse.
