Against the Grain

I made a simple and humble request.

I said to her: "Even if you altogether refuse to talk with me because of this, will you at least promise me, when you're ready, you'll try talking to me on the phone about it before you start talking to others about it? That is all I ask of you. If you will agree to respect that one wish of mine, then I would feel much better about giving you as much time as you want away from me (until you decide otherwise). Even if the previously mentioned conversation turns out to be the very last occasion I have the pleasure of hearing your voice, I would greatly appreciate that gesture of goodwill."

Did she honor my request? I believe so.
Does she go against the grain? Without a doubt.
Do I love her for that? Absolutely.
