A Culture of Self-Obsession

I'm aware that I am a naturally inquisitive individual, so much so that I forget to share information about myself when having conversations with others. The thought of talking about my own feelings/thoughts/experiences sometimes doesn't even cross my mind because I spend so much time asking questions and listening to answers. And while I appreciate the benefits of curiosity and empathy, I think the concept of diminishing returns applies to the utility of these attributes. Additionally, many people tend to take pleasure in hearing and talking about themselves; the sad reality is that we live in a society full of self-absorbed creatures. And my habit of incessant inquiry without any hesitation further reinforces such self-centered behavior.

For those reasons, it's imperative that we allocate ample time for self-reflection to identify and address personal shortcomings.
