Shameful Stigma
It's currently November in 2022, and it's been two years since I've lived with my parents in their house. But oddly enough, I'm not necessarily proud of that "accomplishment." Unlike many others of my generation, I don't believe young adults should be feel ashamed of living with their older family members, including their parents/guardians. The culture of living alongside one's parents has been normalized, and even readily accepted, in many other countries around the globe. Meanwhile, in stark contrast, the social stigma surrounding living with one's parents in the United States seems stronger than ever.
